Description:
The harbour is a busy place in the summer. Commercial salmon fishing starts in early June and finishes at the end of August. Recreational fishing and boating usually starts on the May long weekend and finishes in October. This harbour is home to approximately 40 commercial fishing vessels, approximately 30 Recreational boats and 10 Commercial vessels. These numbers are significantly higher during the summer months.
The Bella Coola Harbour Authority is a non-profit organisation that manages the Small Craft Harbour in Bella Coola. The board of directors is comprised of representatives from the Nuxalk Nation, Central Coast Regional District, Commercial Fishermen, Recreational Boaters and the Commercial boating sector. This organisation has been operating the facility since 1996. Services offered here include moorage, net mending floats, laundry and showers, water, tide grid, scow grid, boat launch, parking and power for boaters. Columbia Fuels, has a fuel dock and the Nuxalk Nation has an ice plant on the main wharf. The ferry terminal is also located to the west of the main wharf.
Location:
The Bella Coola Harbour is located in North Bentinick Arm just beyond the mouth of the Bella Coola River 3km west of the townsite. This facility is the gateway to the Central Coast of British Columbia.

Open (Season):
The Harbour office is open from 8am to 8pm from June 1 - Sept 30. During the off season the office is open from 8am to noon Tuesday to Saturday. Please contact office staff for further information.
