Bella Coola Valley Tourism supports a Bear Smart approach to Valley living!

The BC Ministry of Environment (MOE) reports that every year hundreds, and in some years well over a thousand, bears are destroyed as a result of conflicts between people and bears. In rare instances, people are also injured or even killed as a result of these conflicts. Most of these problems begin when people allow bears to access non-natural food sources such as garbage or unattended fruit trees. Unfortunately this has become the case in our wilderness valley time and time again.

Over 10,000 visitors per day,The Cariboo Chilcotin Coast on view for the world to see

Williams Lake, British Columbia - Front and center of BC Street is a massive log entrance to the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Pavilion. BCVT celebrates 18 years of Valley Tourism

2010 marks the 18th anniversary of Bella Coola Valley Tourism's service. Formed in the late 1980's, the volunteer organization has become an industry leader in the province.  Some fresh faces now work along side the long serving members of the board.  Wendy Kingsley has joined, creating a link to the Valley's Museum and Archives.  Wendy will be ensuring the Visitors Centre operates this summer. Rosemary Smart rejoined the board and has accepted the portfolio of Marketing.
