Bella Coola Valley is a folksy and friendly place. Daily lives revolve around outdoor recreation and there is a strong community ambiance throughout the Valley. This is reflected in the special events and gatherings.Bella Coola RodeoJuly 1st to the 4th, 2010
The Bella Coola Rodeo, one of the largest amateur rodeos in Western Canada, takes place annually on the Canada Day weekend. A rodeo in this small community is a wild event, as cowhands show their skills kicking off with a gymkhana, and competing in bronco riding, barrel racing, calf tie-down, team roping, bull riding and the infamous cow patty bingo.A broad range of food and refreshments are offered, including the famous “Rodeo Burger.” The weekend winds up with the popular Bullarama, where contestants have an opportunity to bid on their own cowboy and win a share of the substantial purse. Contestants travel from as far away as Alberta and the northern states to compete in the events. Open air dances are held nightly. The Rodeo is the kick- off for Gymkhanas, which are held once a month at the Rodeo grounds and showcase the fine equestrian talents of the Valley Ridge Riders.

Farmer's Market
Every Sunday from June 1 to September 30 locals and visitors head to the Bella Coola Farmers' Market located at the Quonset Hut on Highway 20, 6Km east of Bella Coola, from 10 am to 2 pm. It's a chance to mingle with the locals, buy fresh produce, local honey and homemade goodies and get a sampling of the fine arts and crafts available in the Valley.
Discovery Coast Music Festival
July 24th & 25th
Music lovers, as well as everyone who loves to have a great time, enjoy the Discovery Coast Music Festival. The sound of everything from rock to blues wafts through the mountain air as musicians from across Canada perform. As well as music, the Valley is alive with the sounds of merrymaking at this eclectic festival, which has children's events, crafts, workshops and food. http://www.bellacoolamusic.org
Bella Coola Valley Fall Fair

The Bella Coola Valley Fall Fair is a down-home event reminiscent of old country fairs with games for the wee ones -- there is a train ride for children -- along with games for the young at heart. Activities include horseshoes, ring toss and bingo, along with logger sports -- axe throwing, anyone? Head to the Fair Grounds in Bella Coola for this family fun event.
